A few days ago, I received the following e-mail:
Dear Erin,
I have written Barbara about classes,
she answered and sent me your e-mail address.
Are you really in Berlin? Erin, I am good for you!
How are you? What do you study?
With best wishes,
L. M.
L.M. is a German professor at ChGU. Aside from the part where she thought I was not me, but rather the Fulbrighter from the year after me, I was very glad to hear from her. She turns out to have just completed 4 months of sociolinguistic research in Halle (Germany) about refugees, and was passing through Berlin today on her way to the airport to go home. So we met for coffee.
Russians are so nice.
